Anyone looking for a beach holiday with a difference might want to take advantage of a new service set for Stansted Airport.From May 17th, flyLAL-Lithuanian Airlines will begin direct flights from the hub to Palanga.
Located in the west of
Lithuania, Palanga is situated on the country's Amber Coast, so called because the substance is washed up all along the beaches.
Indre Trakinaite, director of the Lithuanian National Tourist Office in the UK, said: "Direct flights from London to Palanga offer a splendid opportunity to visit the beautiful Curonian Spit, the seaport of Klaipeda, and the popular summer resort Palanga and its Amber Museum, which has the largest amber collection in the world, and many other places of interest."
The airline will also offer four extra flights from Stansted to the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius and maintain its daily service to the city from Gatwick.
According to the Lonely Planet travel guide, Vilnius as been dubbed as "the new Prague" for holidaymakers looking for a bargain break.
