Cape Verde next holiday home hotspot
According to new research, Cape Verde off the coast of Senegal could become the next prime location for those searching for the perfect holiday home. The Portuguese-speaking Cape Verde is a group of nine volcanic islands with a moderate climate situated in the Atlantic Sea on the west coast of Africa.
Channel Four television programme A Place in the Sun found that Cape Verde was placed ninth in a survey of the most popular places to buy abroad, with the countries above it all European.
Some property professionals have been skeptical about the islands' potential, claiming that it could have a boom and bust in its tourism economy.
However, sales manager for property investment specialists Cape V Martin Furner said: "The potential for the Cape Verde islands is massive.
"They have a very charming feel to them, rather like the Caribbean."
The surge in tourism demand has prompted the launch of the new airline Halcyon Air to transport tourists between the three largest islands on the archipelago.
