Brit families head to the Herault
An increasing number of British families are leaving UK life and opting for a more affordable existence in Languedoc in the south of France.Accessibility to the region is being fueled by the rise in the number of cheap flights to the region.
Herault is a small town in the region, which was recently named the best place to live in France by L'Express magazine.
The area has improved as a place for families, rather than solely a haven for older couples to retire to.
Languedoc itself was voted the third best place in France to bring up children. This, coupled with affordable house prices and a cheaper way of life, is making it a great option to buy a holiday home or other form of property investment.
"House prices in the Herault are a fraction of those in the UK, so couples with children can live here for less," said Helen Bevis of Parent and Infant Group in the Herault.
She added: "By downshifting to the Herault you can ease your financial burden, and with less stress, family life can be better."
