Berlin to rival other European cities
Berlin is quickly emerging as a leading hot spot as more people discover the city's unique atmosphere and developing attractions. In addition, the country's favourable economy is helping to boost the city's confidence as well as attracting overseas visitors and investors.
Recent years have seen a transformation of the city in a thriving metropolis with modern projects helping to revitalise the region.
Places of interest include the remnants of The Berlin Wall, The Opera House, The Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, St Hedwig’s Cathedral and The Hackesche Hofe.
Norbert Klink of estate agents Norenva, speaking to the Observer, explained: "The once-communist east is catching up with the west and Berlin has become a collection of micro-locations, rather than an integrated city."
In addition, Berlin is only an hour's flight from many UK airports and this makes it an ideal destination for a short city break or a long weekend getaway.
