Tunisia growing in popularityTunisia's tourism minister has announced that the country is enjoying strong interest from overseas travellers.

Tijani Haddad confirmed that the African country has experienced a ten per cent rise in tourism revenue during the first five months of the year as more tourists discover the country's unique attractions, reports Alarab.

"We expect important growth in tourism revenue this year of 8.6 percent. That's the lowest expectation; the growth could be higher," explained Mr Haddad.

Last year, around 6.5 million people visited Tunisia as part of a holiday and this is have a positive impact on local employment rates as well as increasing demand for quality holiday accommodation and rentals.

In particular, tourists are drawn to the country's main beach resorts of Tabarka, Hammamet, Sousse and Jerba to soak up the favourable climate and relaxed atmosphere. For those looking for more than two weeks on the beach, there are a number of golf courses, festivals and impressive archaeological sites to enjoy.
