The Ashes first Test Match in Cardiff: travel advice
The first Ashes Test Match begins tomorrow at Wales's SWALEC Stadium. Glamorgan Cricket Club and Cardiff Council are advising cricket fans to leave plenty of time for their journey and have put together a travel plan.

England and
Australia could continue until July 12. As a result of the match, around extra 100,000 visitors are expected in
Cardiff city centre over the next five days. Those not in the city for the cricket should be aware that transport routes will be busier than normal.
Those travelling to the SWALEC Stadium should use public transport to get in and out of Cardiff city centre. The stadium is situated on the Taff Trail and is easily accessible by foot and cycle from the city. It is also within walking distance of Cardiff's main train and bus station. Several bus routes stop near the stadium.
If driving to the city, widening works on the M4 mean that journey times could take up to two hours longer than normal. Motorists should use Cardiff's Park and Ride facilities and are reminded not to park in the streets surrounding the stadium, which are for permit holders only. Anyone parking irresponsibly and causing an obstruction is liable to have their car towed away.
