Self-catering holidays 'ideal for families'
Self-catering holidays 'ideal for families'Self-catering holidays are ideal for those with young children, one expert believes.

According to a spokesperson for the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO), an increasing number of parents are taking their new families for a break, and self-catering trips seem to be the perfect idea.

She said: "It's certainly attractive because you can put your child to bed upstairs and cook your own meal and that is an attractive proposition for a lot of people."

People who are looking for a holiday with an element of independence might also want to choose the self-catering option, she added.

Anyone who decides to do so will not be obliged to go out to a restaurant every night and will be able to stay in and cook "if that's what takes their fancy", the representative concluded.

Last month, a survey by price comparison website Kelkoo found that the number of people searching for holidays in the UK increased by 39 per cent in the past 12 months.

It also found that the number of people looking to rent holiday homes and cottages in areas such as the Lake District, Cornwall and Dorset have increased by 21 per cent.
