New Zealand destinations top holiday poll
New Zealand seems to be the place to be after two locations in the country topped a poll of the best resorts to visit on holiday.Milford Sound and Queenstown took first and second spot in the TripAdvisor 2008 Travellers' Choice Destinations top 100.
Philipsburg in St Maarten, Cayo Largo in
Cuba and the Greek island of Rhodes complete the top five.
Ian Rumgay, TripAdvisor's European communications manager, said: "What the destinations have in common is a 'something special' that makes them truly exceptional in the eyes of travellers around the world."
Five UK destinations were featured in the list. Bath, at 14th was the highest placed city in
England. The Scottish capital of Edinburgh was ranked 27th, while its English counterpart, London, came 84th.
Anyone who is inspired to book a getaway after reading the list might find that their flights cost them less than in the past. Recently, Sean Tipton, press officer at the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), claimed that big airlines are cutting fares as they seek to keep up with their low-cost rivals.
