Morocco's tourism boom continues
The tourism industry in Morocco is set to build on the record year it experienced in 2007, it has been predicted.Speaking to members of the press, tourism minister Mohamed Boussaid claimed that the tourism in the country is "very healthy" and that there is no sign of a slowdown, Reuters reports.
That nation attracted a total of 7.4 million foreign tourists last year and the figure for 2008 could top this.
Mr Boussaid said: "Tourism's January growth was 12 per cent and February's growth was of 15 per cent. So we are seeing an acceleration in tourism growth."
He added that the country is set to meet its target of attracting ten million visitors from overseas in 2010.
Last month, Essentialmorocco.com reported that the country's plan to boost its tourism industry should lead to a boom in property prices.
It claimed that a number of high profile investors including Richard Branson have already purchased property in the country.
