A monorail crash at Walt Disney World in Orlando has left one dead. The driver was killed as a result of the incident.

No visitors were seriously injured in the accident at Walt Disney World, reports The Daily Mail. The crash happened in the Magic Kingdom section of the park on the last monorail service of the day.

It is believed that one train crashed into the back of a stationary carriage at around 2am on Sunday morning. The park was about to close after its Independence Day fireworks and events.

The monorail service was shut after the accident, but visitors are being reassured of the park's safety: "[Accidents] are extremely rare, said Disney's vice president of communications, Michael Griffin."The safety of our guests and casts is a top priority above all else."

Over 150,000 tourists ride Disney's monorail on an average day. The park has 12 trains operating on the 14.7 miles of elevated rail.
