For best value motoring holidays head to Spain
Spain has emerged as the best value destination in the eurozone for motoring holidays, according to a new report by the Post Office.
As prices at British petrol pumps continue to soar, figures from the Post Office showed that
Spain has the cheapest diesel at 94 pence per litre and is second only to
Switzerland for unleaded petrol. Nevertheless, out of the countries that use the euro, Spain is the cheapest for unleaded petrol, coming in at the equivalent of £1 per litre.
The report also examined the cost of holiday car hire, surveying 20 destinations in total, including
Florida. Florida came out on top, based on three-day rental rates and fuel costs for 200 miles of driving, while Spain proved the most cost effective in
Europe.
The 'Motoring on the Continent' report revealed that the price of unleaded petrol rose significantly over the past year in all of the 12 countries surveyed, with the UK experiencing the biggest increase.
