The ferry offers UK-based holidaymakers an alternative way to explore Europe, one provider has stated.A spokesperson for DFDS Seaways points out that, while the company serves ports in Scandinavia and the
Netherlands, tourists can take their cars with them and then travel elsewhere after the crossing.
She suggested that travellers might want to drive down to
France and the Mediterranean after arriving in continental Europe, something that can be done with little fuss.
"No hassle with airport queues, delays, baggage restrictions and stress. Just pack up the car and head off on your holiday with everything you need," she said.
Fares from Newcastle start from £132 for a one-way trip to Amsterdam and £176 for destinations in
Norway. People can travel from Harwich to
Denmark for as little as £196, the representative concluded.
Recently, Keith Southey, public relations manager for the Port of Dover, stated that those who travel abroad using a ferry experience more "freedom and flexibility" than people who choose to fly.
