Brooklyn 'full of hidden delights'
New York is one of the world's most popular city break destinations but visitors who limit themselves to the island of Manhattan are missing out, one expert believes.Writing for the Guardian, Paul Berger states that the borough of Brooklyn offers tourists some unique experiences.
He points to a number of attractions including Monkey Town in the suburb of Williamsburg.
"Almost defying description, Monkey Town is part alternative movie theatre, part restaurant [and] bar... [The] screening room holds a capacity crowd of 50 and presents offbeat shows every night of the week," he said.
Brooklyn also features a rival to Central Park - Prospect Park, which was designed by the same architects as its more famous equivalent.
The park offers visitors a chance to see how New Yorkers spend their time, as it is often packed with picnickers and amateur sports enthusiasts, Mr Berger added.
Last week, Jet2.com announced that it is to operate flights from Leeds Bradford Airport direct to New York.
