Bank holiday demand high for UK routes
UK destinations are very much in demand as the country gears up for the first of the two May bank holidays, one low-cost airline has found.Flybe has revealed that its top ten routes for the first break in May are all to British airports.
The most popular service is Belfast City to Manchester, but London Gatwick also features prominently as a destination as people look to holiday on the south coast or connect with a flight heading abroad.
Mike Rutter, chief commercial officer for Flybe, said: "It's good to see that passengers are reaping the benefits of the holiday savings to be made through booking with us."
He added that those who choose to fly, rather than drive, to a UK holiday destination will avoid time-consuming motorway queues.
The fact that petrol and diesel prices are on the rise means that people could save even more money by flying, he concluded.
Last week, a survey by TripAdvisor found that 46 per cent of people in the UK are planning to make use of the bank holidays in May and take a break.
