Adventure-seeking holidaymakers need to have right travel insurance
Adventure-seeking holidaymakers need to have right travel insuranceBritish holidaymakers want more from their break than tanning on the beach; new research from insurance agency esure shows that more Britons are looking for an adrenaline rush while away, but are unaware that conventional travel insurance won't cover them.

25 per cent of British holidaymakers now choose their destination based on the availability of adventure sports there, and 88 per cent have actually participated in such activities whilst on holiday. Nevertheless, one in 10 Britons wrongly believe that standard travel insurance policies cover adventurous pursuits, leaving themselves open to "hefty bills" in the event of an accident.

Mike Pickard, from esure, said: "With a surge in popularity of, and access to, more adventurous sports across the globe, it's crucial for holidaymakers to take out travel insurance and check they're covered before they try out the likes of white water rafting in Australia...Get injured and the medical bills could turn a paradise trip into a nightmare."

The figures show that the most popular activities for Britons to experience this year include scuba diving, jet-skiing and white water rafting. esure advises that holidaymakers read the small print of their insurance carefully, paying particular attention to the 'hazardous sports' section. People should also check to see if there are any specific clauses relating to the insurance for any activity for which they are covered.
