More Brits are travelling abroad

More Brits are travelling abroad according to official new statistics.

Visits abroad by UK residents rose by two per cent during the 12 months ending April 2007, from 67.3 million to 68.4 million, according to recent figures from the Office for National Statistics.

Visits to Europe increased one per cent (to 54.1 million).

However, visits to North America decreased per cent (to 4.5 million), but holidays to other parts of the world rose by eight per cent (to 9.8 million).

The UK itself is also growing in popularity as a holiday destination with an increase of five per cent in overseas residents visiting Britain over the same 12-month period.
