holidaylettings.co.uk got April Fool's Day underway early. Distributed to the media last week, Buckingham Palace, Hagrid's Hut, The Gingerbread House and The Old Woman's Shoe proved a huge success, attracting much attention through Twitter.

After releasing details of the properties to the media, over 30 mentions of the jokes were generated through the micro blogging site Twitter. This included mentions by both The Guardian and The Times on the social networking service. These in turn led to many Twitter users copying the posts to their profiles while others contacted our press office for more details.

Featuring on The Guardian's Travel Blog, Bed and Breakfast at Buckingham Palace proved particularly popular. The property was also listed as one of the Top 10 travel April Fool's on Times Online. Deluxe living in the heart of London, guests at Buckingham Palace have a choice of over 600 bedrooms, all furnished with rare artefacts and antiques.

As well as B&B with the Windsors, holidaylettings.co.uk is also offering holidaymakers the chance to stay in Hagrid's Hut. Harry Potter enthusiasts all over the web picked up on this particular property, leading to mentions of holidaylettings.co.uk on several fan blogs.

Travellers with children and those with a sweet tooth are invited to take a holiday in the Gingerbread House. Young visitors are, however, advised to be aware of hungry wolves in the nearby Dark Wood. Regrettably, the house is not suitable for woodcutters or their wives.

Another option for family holidays is the popular Old Woman's Shoe, currently based in the enchanting resort of Far Far Away. Ideal for those who don't want to cook, the catered shoe offers guests plenty of broth, although bread is not available. A local cat will, however, provide music on a fiddle to accompany your meals. It also allows guests who tire easily of the same surroundings to explore plenty of new parts of the world. The present neighbours are extremely friendly and encourage visitors to take part in the candle stick jumping event.
