Glastonbury tickets go on sale in HMV
Tickets for one of the UK's biggest music festivals have been put on sale in music stores to ensure that the event is a sell-out. The Times reports that music lovers can get their hands on thousands of tickets at HMV stores around the country.
Organisers of the five-day festival in
Somerset have chosen a "bit of old-fashioned bricks and mortar retailing", offering latecomers the chance to get in on the act.
A spokesman for Glastonbury said that 100,000 tickets, of the 137,500 available, sold online the day they went on sale but things have begun to tail off: "The ones [tickets] after that have been slower to go and our thinking, having talked to people, is that it's because the weather has not been so brilliant in the past few years, it's been so wet."
Tickets are now available from six HMV stores, including
London's Oxford Street, Cardiff and Birmingham. The festival, which runs from June 25th to June 30th, now faces increased competition from other events, many in sunnier climes.
