A giant Lego man has washed up on Brighton beach. The 6ft tall figure is thought to have fallen off a Dutch boat and has been given a warm welcome.

Visitors to Brighton beach are greeted by the giant red, green and yellow Lego man, reports The Telegraph.

No one knows exactly how the Lego man ended up on Brighton beach, although some believe it to be from Holland.

"It's very odd. God knows how it got here, but some are saying it's from Holland because it's got some Dutch writing on it. It must have fallen off a boat or something. The kids love it," said Brighton resident Gerry Turner.

Despite its unexpected arrival, officials are happy for the giant figure to remain on the beach: "There's no problem at all. It will be interesting to see how long the Lego man stays there for. We'll keep an eye on it," said a spokesman for Brighton and Hove City Council.

This is not the first time a giant Lego man has found its way into the water. Last August, another figure was fished out of the sea in Zandvoort, Holland. The model was thought to have originated in England, leading to speculation that the Dutch were simply returning the favour.
