Families spending more on holidays
Families spending more on holidaysBritish families are feeling the need to get away from it all and are thinking less about the cost, the latest figures on holiday spending reveal.

The average family will spend around £1,076.40 on holidays including their holiday apartment and flight costs, reports the survey from InsureandGo.

This is a 52.6 per cent increase on the figures for holiday prices reported in 2001 and suggest that holiday spending is becoming a significant part of our annual budget.

Perry Wilson, from InsureandGo, said: "Holidays are as popular as ever and as a nation we take well over 60 million trips abroad a year."

He explained that travelling further away from home to take a holiday can drive the price of the trip higher and that people were more adventurous in their holiday choices than in the past.

And the price of adventure is not cheap, he continued, as the average amount of money spent is rising at nearly nine per cent a year.

As people become more eager to splash out on a real treat for their holiday accommodation, those with property overseas who target the British market are likely to reap substantial benefits.
