Employees should maximise holiday time
Employees should maximise holiday timeA total of 21.6 million holiday days are not being taking by UK managers even though taking a break from work can help to improve productivity levels, claims a new study.

Research conducted by the Chartered Management Institute discovered that many workers are failing to take their full holiday entitlement because of excessive workloads as well as fears that it could impact on their careers in the long-term.

However, taking a break from it all can be the ideal way to "recharge the batteries" and return to the workplace refreshed and ready, explained Jo Causon, director of marketing and corporate affairs at the Chartered Management Institute.

"Taking time off for a proper break is not a sign of weakness, so individuals should be encouraged to use their holiday entitlement to the full," she said.

Those managers who did find time to take a holiday favoured a number of destinations, with trips to the Caribbean, Australia and Canada the most popular.
