Celebrities to run a plane in ITV2's CelebAir

ITV2 is launching a celebrity-run airline for a new reality show. CelebAir will see 12 celebrities dealing with real passengers on board a plane chartered from an established airline, thought to be Monarch.
CelebAir will involve celebrities taking on duties such as check-in, cabin crew and sales. According to The Guardian it is believed that Monarch is close to signing a deal with CelebAir. Members of the public will be able to buy flights to several European destinations, including
Ibiza and
Barcelona. Passengers will also be encouraged to offset their carbon emissions.
An ITV source said: "This isn't frivolous or celebrity TV for the sake of it - there's a genuine outcome at stake, such as people's business trips and holidays. CelebAir takes reality shows literally to new heights, where famous faces will take over a commercial jet and fly paying passengers to a host of new destinations."
Passenger safety will not be compromised; each celebrity will be fully trained to professional standards, in accordance with the Civil Aviation Authority's training requirements. The celebrities will not be piloting the plane either. Celebrities are in the process of being signed up for CelebAir, but none have yet been confirmed.
