Brits prioritise holidays
The British see their annual holiday as a necessity rather than a luxury, according to a new survey.Research conducted by Mintel revealed that many Brits believe holidays are a must, with almost 25 per cent planning a trip overseas in the next 12 months – with many citing Spain as their planned destination.
There has also been a sharp increase in the number of people planning to take short breaks, with one in five involved in the survey expressing an interest in travelling overseas for a long weekend. This growth has been fuelled by the ongoing expansion of low-cost flight services from UK airports across the UK to popular holiday resorts in Europe.
In addition, the survey also discovered that holiday spending is on the increase, especially as the pound continues to perform strongly against the euro. It is estimated that spending on overseas trips has rose by 28 per cent over the past four years and now stands at £23.8 million.
