Britons say 'I do' across the world
Weddings in exotic locations such as the Caribbean have seen a surge in popularity, with British couples opting to jet cross the world to tie the knot. That is the view of industry specialists at Confetti, who say that brides and grooms are warming to the idea of smaller parties and more luxurious weddings overseas.
Recent figures from WeddingsAbroad.com suggest that one in ten couples are now planning to marry abroad, a trend voiced by Confetti PR manager Carol Richardson.
Describing it as a major "growth area", Ms Richardson said there were many reasons behind the trend.
"Certainly it prevents a lot of the fuss of organising a huge wedding where all your relations are invited lots of people are attracted to that," she said.
"It does give a guarantee of good weather, usually but not always."
Locations such as
Mauritius and
St Lucia, are said to be particularly popular, although a wide range of countries have proved attractive to Britons.
