BA gives plane a golden nose job as Team GB's medallists get upgrade and fly home club class

Britain's gold and silver Olympic medallists are to get an upgrade on their British Airways (BA) flight when they fly home. The BA plane will also get a special nose job as the airline plans to paint it gold in celebration of the British team's achievements.
To celebrate their "startling success", gold and silver medallists will fly back from
Beijing club class, according to the BBC. The team's multi-gold medallists Bradley Wiggins, Chris How and Rebecca Adlington will be treated to a return journey in first class.
Furthermore, in recognition of Team GB's achievements, the nose of the BA plane that will bring them home will be painted gold, reports The Press Association. "Team GB has led the opposition home in event after event at these golden Olympics. It is right that a
gold nose cone should adorn the aircraft that brings the team home to the UK. We salute our Olympians," said BA's Willie Walsh.
Painting the plane's nose gold set BA's engineering team a challenge as paint cannot be metallic for safety reasons. However, they came up with a silicone-based gold paint that meets safety standards.
Team GB is due to land back in
England on Monday.
