Ryanair launches 40 new European routes
Budget airline Ryanair is further spreading its wings as it yesterday annouced its biggest ever single expansion. The low cost carrier will this winter transport passengers on more UK and mainland Europe routes.
Ryanair launched a total of 40 new
European routes, including 12 departing from UK airports. Holidaymakers travelling from
London Luton will be able to jet off to seven new destinations, such as
Beziers and
Trapani in
Sicily. Meanwhile, planes will now take off from Bristol Airport to
Marrakech and new destinations will also be served by the no-frills airline from Birmingham and Manchester.
Ryanair's Bridget Dowling spoke of Ryanair's commitment to its passengers: "While other airlines are busy increasing fuel surcharges, Ryanair is busy guaranteeing the lowest fares and no fuel surcharges on 40 new European routes. Passengers at 12 European bases are set to benefit from our biggest ever single expansion, and these 40 new routes will ensure passenger savings of £150m compared to the high fares levied by Europe's fuel surcharging flag carriers."
To celebrate the launch of the new routes, the airline is offering 250,000 one-way seats for £10. Dowling recommended that holidaymakers book up quickly to avoid disappointment. As well as this week's announcement, Ryanair last week revealed that it was expanding operations at Bournemouth and Glasgow, offering passengers at those airports a greater choice of destinations.
