New airport for St Vincent

The island paradise of St Vincent and the Grenadines is to benefit from a new airport.
Constructed over a period of four years, the Argyle International Airport will allow holidaymakers looking for rental breaks greater access to this undiscovered part of the Caribbean.
Featuring a 9,000-foot runway, designed to cater for Boeing, Airbus and MD80 planes, the airport will provide a hub for international flights direct to the island.
Glen Beache, minister of tourism, youth and sports told Breaking Travel News: "St. Vincent and the Grenadines has something to suit all holidaymakers, from guest houses to five star resorts, from sailing to hiking.
"One of the key focuses in the tourism sector is on small, family-run hotels and B&Bs in order to position our destination as an affordable Caribbean holiday destination."
In the past year, the island has received record tourist numbers with 12,525 visitors so far in 2007. This number sees average growth of 20 per cent year on year.
