Monarch expands popular routes
Monarch expands popular routesSome people might not have had the chance to sort out their summer holidays yet, but one airline has already announced its winter schedules.

Low cost airline Monarch has revealed that it plans to expand the number of flights it offers from Birmingham and London Luton airports to popular holiday destinations.

There will be more flights from the Midlands hub to Alicante and Malaga in Spain, while both airports are to host more services bound for Tenerife and Lanzarote in the Canary Islands.

Liz Savage, managing director of Monarch's scheduled services, said: "Demand for travel to the Canary Islands in particular has been huge for winter and we're pleased to be able to offer 15 per cent more seats compared to last winter from Birmingham and ten per cent from London Luton."

The new schedules will come into effect for winter 2008-09 and the flights are on sale now.

In related news, Chris Nourse of travel search engine Multicom claimed that people now see holidays abroad as an essential, rather than a luxury.
