easyJet could reduce its presence at Luton Airport. The carrier is in a dispute with the London airport over charges.

easyJet is refusing to pay the increased landing charges asked for by Luton Airport, according to The Travel Trade Gazette. easyJet refers to Luton as its "spiritual home" and is the largest carrier at the airport..

If the two parties are unable to come to an agreement, easyJet could move some of its aircraft to Stansted or Gatwick. The airline was also in disagreement with Luton over its £1 drop-off charge for passengers earlier this year.

A source close to the negotiations said that the landing charges already make up around 10 per cent of easyJet's average fare from Luton. If the airport were to increase its charges, easyJet would be forced to raise its ticket prices accordingly.

If easyJet does not get the deal it wants, it could drop its plans to expand at Luton. It is thought that two of its eight aircraft based at Luton are at risk of being moved elsewhere.
