Bomb scare at Edinburgh Airport causes delays
Edinburgh Airport was hit by a bomb scare yesterday. Officials warned of delays after a suspicious suitcase was discovered at the airport.

Passengers travelling from Edinburgh Airport were warned of significant knock-on delays, reports the BBC. Staff and passengers were cleared from the food hall, check-in and domestic arrivals area in the main terminal.

The suitcase was found in the ladies' toilets in the UK arrivals area at around 2.20pm yesterday. Departures fully reopened at 5pm, but airport operator BAA told the news agency that passengers should check the status of their flights with their airlines.

Army bomb disposal experts were called to the airport. A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said: "They examined the luggage and found that is posed no threat. Enquiries are underway to establish how the luggage came to be located within the toilets."

One passenger described how they were affected: "My fiancee and I had to wait on the plane for an hour, before waiting a further hour in the terminal We have just arrived at the taxi queue, where there are more than 100 people waiting in line."
