Eurostar reduced service and more stranded passengers

Following almost a week of suspended services between London and Brussels, Eurostar has announced that some trains will be running from today. Three trains a day will run between the two capitals in each direction, a third of the normal service.
According to the Press Association, trains will also be taking a diversion, via suburban lines, which will add up to 50 minutes to journey times. Normal services for passengers travelling to
Belgium will not resume until March 2 at the earliest, and no new bookings will be taken until February 27. Passengers who have advance tickets can either choose to postpone them or have their tickets refunded.
Passengers suffered another setback last night when a train broke down as it headed towards London. The Guardian said that British Transport Police sent in a rescue train to collect around 700 stranded passengers near Ashford in
Kent.
Holidays in
France have not been too badly affected by these disruptions, and trains between
London and
Paris continue to operate normally.
