Afghan plane crashes in northern Afghanistan mountains
An Afghan passenger plane with 44 people on board has crashed today (Monday) in the mountains of northern Afghanistan.
The Pamir Airways flight went down about 60 miles from Kabul on a flight from the northern city of Kunduz to the capital, reports The Times.
The plane had been missing since early morning. The British Embassy in Kabul has now confirmed that three British nationals were among the 38 passengers and six crew on the flight. The missing men are Daniel Saville from Manchester and Chris Carter and David Taylor from Staffordshire.
Search teams – including US and NATO forces - are trying to reach the crash site near the 12,700 foot high Salang Pass. But poor weather is said to be hampering the search.
