Since the island has so many beach choices, we don't care about Gallows Pointe. “Better than ever” We stayed at altagracia for the second time in late February. Last year, the old deck wood seemed pretty rough and worn and now they have replaced it all with really nice smooth wood, which we appreciated. They are also building a big outdoor kitchen. I don't think we'd ever use the outdoor kitchen so I hope the rates won't be going up. Another big improvement was that they cut a lot of the foliage that was blocking the ocean views from the pool area. It is still private, but now you can see the water from the pool deck and the pool gets a lot more sun (they are working on a shaded pergola, which is definitely needed). We found we used the pool much more because of these improvements. The master bedroom/bath is really nice with curtains to block the afternoon sun (something a lot of houses don't have for some reason). We did find the bedroom aC unit was making a strange whining sound that kept us awake so we were unable to use it at night. It did not do this last year so I think it just needs maintenance. We didn't ask for maintenance while we were there. Catered To has been a pleasure to deal with. This house also has a very convenient location.

“An incredibly relaxing way to spend a sun drenched week.” This is our 20th or so trip to St. John and our third stay at Villa adagio. We've made the trip as a couple and with our three children. Either configuration is a winner. Our many visits have included quite a few of the nicest villas on the island and Villa adagio is a convenient, exceptionally appointed home at a ressonable price. A solar or supplemental heater to raise the indoor pool temperature a few degrees would be my only recommendation. Great experience and highly recommended.

“The View From Paradise” What a special family holiday we had over Christmas and New Years! Francis Bay Estate is the best equipped home we have ever stayed in(our second time). The location is perfect for reaching the north short beaches, or walking to Little Maho or Francis. Our families have the privacy we prefer and the ease of a comfortable home. The pool with a "view of paradise" is one of the most picturesque in all the islands looking out to Jost Van Dyke and Tortola. The bedrooms are all ensuite and air-conditioned - a must with the humidity. We would stay here again. The rental over the holiday week is very expensive, something to consider in this economy. We feel like some of the discounts offered on high-end rentals should have been offered to us in the form of a refund. Something to consider.

“Outstanding villa rental in St. John with a house that provides” Great Expectations is beautifully sited, fully equipped property that provides everything a three generation family needs. From cribs, toys and videos for kids to a wading pool, adult pool and nearby wonderful beaches, everything was planned to make our stay seamless. Restaurants are close, and catering companies made dinners at home most enjoyable. With a toddler in tow, this was especially convenient. Everything about this house is comfortable, easy and well planned.

“Great spot for Groups” We stayed with a group of 10 adults and really enjoyed the arrangements. The master bathroom is outrageous in size and amenities. The other bedrooms in the main house share a bath, which would probably not be a problem for teens, but would not be the best arrangement if you had all 6 rooms filled with couples. The trip down to the house is a little tricky, but there are many other villas with much more treacherous drives. We have made many visits to SJ, always renting villas and this one was very well received. We enjoy the Coral Bay area over the Cruz Bay spots, but this location makes both accessible, although both are a bit of a drive. the N. Shore beaches are pretty close, especially the less populated beaches like Francis Bay. The kitchen could have used some more equipment, we were constantly running out of glasses and there was a somewhat odd assortmnent of plates, pitchers etc. The ceramic stove top looks nifty, but is not useful - very hard to get the heat right and then a mess after the smallest of spills. The views are terrific and the pool deck got a lot of use. It looks like a iPod player has been added; that was sorely missed when we stayed and the video equipment was not operational, but we really didn't need it and did not mention this until checkout (as it really wasn't a problem). The management was great, with checkin and checkout very smooth - since our group consisted of veteran SJ travellers, we really didn't need much. The wireless router is housed in a room off the main house and its reach was a bit short - you needed to be sitting inside to get internet when it would have been nice to be able to sit at the pool deck and enjoy the sun and the views while trying to stay a little connected to the mainland. All in all, a place to recommend and a management experience that is sure to please.

“Beautiful home, beautiful view” We really enjoyed our stay on St John, and the Villa Catalini was a very nice house, very clean, well appointed, gorgeous view. The basement room was accessed from outside of the house which the kids liked, and we enjoyed the peace and quiet that provided. We stayed at 6 homes during our 6 week vacation and this was the kids favorite. Be warned the roads on St John are very steep, and a 4x4 is required even to get up some of the paved roads on a dry day. I have no ideas for any improvements, it was great.
