The largest island in the Mediterranean, Sicily has an abundance of natural and historical treasures. Across the plains of Catania, Syracuse was once foremost amongst Mediterranean cities, with a plethora of Greek remains and the massive Teatro Greco which still holds classical performances. Off the coast, the Aeolian Islands make for a great ferry trip, with each part of the archipelago offering its own unique charm.
