Situated on the northern edge of the Laikipia plateau, Ol Malo House is a new addition to the region. The house is nestled into a rugged escarpment looking out across the time-honored lands of Kenya’s Northern Frontier District. These miles of dense thorn bush are favoured by the shy, elusive antelope from which the house takes its name, “the place of the Greater Kudu”. An ancient land inhabited by wildlife and peoples of a time long ago, undisturbed and living by the rhythm of nature. For accommodating exclusive groups, or families, the Francombes’ have built a six-bedroom house. The hub of the house is a large and beautiful sitting and dining room with open fireplaces encircled by three en-suite double bedrooms. Separate cottages create a further three double bedrooms: each private and comfortable cottage has arch windows and doors, en-suite bathrooms, and decor inspired by the area’s wild landscape, local flora and the life and culture of the Samburu people. Lighting handmade by the Samburu women creates a warm ambience and welcoming atmosphere. A flagstone path leads to a large open area overlooking the infinity pool, fringed by Drasina palms and this incredible land’s wide-open vistas – perfect for al fresco dining. A barbecue area creates a wonderful place in which to end the day under a star-studded African sky. Ol Malo Nomad takes you one step further to explore the mountains, painted valleys, deserts and Kenya’s best kept secrets. Our adventures are varied and tailor made; from exploring by helicopter and fishing vast lakes, to trekking on foot, horse or camel with mobile camps into the unknown. Ol Malo Nomad also offers guests the opportunity to get more involved and support the Samburu eco-system through the Samburu Trust by walking with the Samburu people to secure their land, its wildlife and their shared future. Additional amenities include: parking - garage, roofed patio/deck/terrace, shower, fans, smoking allowed outside, separate wc, bed linen provided.  …see more

Giraffe Manor has been named TOP Family Hotel in Africa & The Middle East by Travel & Leisure. Giraffe Manor is a peaceful retreat to start or end a safari in East Africa and has become an icon of Nairobi’s historical landscape. Giraffe Manor has been named top Family Hotel in Africa & The Middle East by Travel & Leisure. Giraffe Manor is one of Nairobi’s most iconic buildings: characterful, picturesque, and enveloped in history like the foliage creeping over its brickwork. The most fascinating thing about Giraffe Manor is not its beautiful façade or elegant interiors: it’s the herd of resident Rothschild giraffe. These beautiful creatures often visit morning and evening, poking their long necks into the windows in the hope of a treat, before retreating to their forest sanctuary.Set in 12 acres of private land within 140 acres of indigenous forest in the Langata suburb of Nairobi and with verdant green gardens, sunny terraces and delightful courtyards, it harks back to the 1930s when European visitors first flocked to East Africa to enjoy safaris. With its stately façade and elegant interior, Giraffe Manor has an extraordinary appeal. Guests remark that it’s like walking into the film Out of Africa: indeed, one of its six suites is named after the author Karen Blixen. Additional amenities include: concierge, cot, roofed patio/deck/terrace, patio/deck/terrace, shower, separate wc, bathtub, bed linen provided.  …see more

Ol Pejeta Bush Camp is a traditional, very comfortable tented bush camp on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro river, and is the home of owner-manager Alex Hunter. The camp is set in nearly 100,000 acres in the Laikipia region of central Kenya, right on the Equator next to Mount Kenya itself. Ol Pejeta Conservancy has the highest resident game-to-area ratio of any park or reserve in Kenya. There is incredible wildlife viewing and a fantastic array of activities, without your stay being marred by seeing a lot of other vehicles. Most nights from your tent after dinner, you will hear lions roar and leopards grunting, after an evening round the camp fire admiring a sensationally starry sky. Accommodation consists of 5 large tents which can all act as double, twin or family rooms. This means the camp can accommodate a total of 12-14 guests in total. All tents are situated along the river. The accommodation style is of a traditional, and comfortable safari camp. It’s built entirely on an eco-friendly design, there are no permanent structures and the camp’s environmental impact is as low as possible. Tents are furnished with single/double/twin beds (duvets and blankets), re-chargeable solar lights, ensuite loos and wash basins, and safari bucket showers (brought on request, of any preferred temperature by guests at any time of day!).
