Valentine's day city breaks 'still popular'

City breaks remain a popular option for those looking to book a Valentine get away - but people are also starting to look for somewhere "a bit different".
A spokesperson for the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO) said that
Monaco and the capital of
Iceland, Reykjavik, were just two of the emerging destinations for short breaks.
He said: "A city break is particularly popular, more so than anything lengthier. You still have very much the old favourites, such as Paris, Rome and Venice."
However, he added that people were beginning to look for something "off the beaten track" as many people were now so well travelled that they had been to a lot of the major cities in Europe and were now looking for something "a bit different".
In February 2006, a YouGov survey found Paris to be the most popular Valentine's Day destination with UK residents.
