Tourism 'will continue to grow in 2008'
Tourism 'will continue to grow in 2008'International tourism will continue to grow despite the impact of the credit crunch, leading industry figures believe.

The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) predict that the industry will only be "moderately" impacted by any economic downturn and would continue to expand in 2008 - albeit at a slower pace.

Research carried out by the WTTC and Oxford Economics revealed that international tourism arrivals in 2007 approached the 900 million mark, an increase of almost six per cent on the previous year.

WTTC president Jean-Claude Baumgarten said: "Tourism growth has been particularly rapid in developing countries with the fastest average growth in tourism arrivals in the Middle East region."

Holiday Which? recently said that it expected UK holidaymakers to become even more adventurous with their choice of destinations in the coming year.
