Malta tourists driving property market
The rising numbers of people travelling to enjoy holidays in Malta is having a positive impact on the region's housing market, claims a real estate company.Maltabuyproperty.co.uk believes that the seven per cent rise in tourism for Malta over the past 12 months has lead to increasing property values and the development of a healthy holiday rental sector. Authorities are also keen to ensure that the island does not become overdeveloped and remains an enjoyable holiday destination.
Ray Woods, spokesman for Maltabuyproperty.co.uk, explained: "Everyone expects 2007 to be a boom year."
"The population is increasing steadily and planning controls are likely to restrict future development," he added.
In particular, the introduction of new services from low-cost airlines such as Ryanair have played a key role in encouraging more Brits to visit the island, especially to enjoy the region's unique culture and favourable climate. Plus many travellers opt for Malta because it is a member of the European Union and English is its first language.
