Malta 'set for holiday property boom'
Property experts in Malta are expecting a huge increase in the demand for holiday homes on the island in the coming months, thanks to budget airlines making Malta more accessible to British holiday makers.Having seen the prices of property surrounding Spanish and French airports soar following the budget airline boom, many are anticipating the same effect in the Maltese holiday property market.
"Cheap airline destinations have proved to be a magnet for UK property investors, and if that trend continues then prices will go up in the next twelve to twenty four months," said a spokesperson for YourMalta.com, an online travel guide.
UK property specialists Tribune Properties have also agreed that Malta could be ripe for a property boom
"With lower fares, Malta becomes a destination viable for three and four days trips a few times a year from the UK, and that will attract buyers to look at Malta in the same way they do France and Spain when considering where to buy a holiday home abroad," the company said.
"The Malta weather and low fares could be a magnet for buyers."
