Jet2.com launches new Manchester routes to fill gap left by Ryanair

Je2.com has announced new routes from Manchester Airport. The news comes after Ryanair said it is closing nine out of its tens services from the airport.
From summer 2010, Jet2.com holidaymakers in the
north of England will have more options when travelling to
villas in Italy, with a new service between
Manchester and
Venice. Owners of
Gran Canaria apartments will also benefit, as will those renting out
villas in Greece, with a new service to Kos.
Jet2.com will also increase its frequency of its summer services to
Lanzarote,
Dalaman,
Sharm El Sheikh and
Tel Aviv. All these changes equate to a potential 100,000 extra passengers using the airport in the summer 2010 period.
The airline said that its actions prove its commitment to the north west of
England: "Manchester Airport is an extremely important base for us," said the Phil Meeson, Jet2.com's chief executive. "It is fantastic to be able to offer people flying from Manchester a number of brand new holiday destinations...no other airline currently operates a scheduled service to Kos and Venice and we are confident that these will be extremely popular routes."
