Investors drawn by Cape Verde eco-tourism
Investors drawn by Cape Verde eco-tourismThe popular holiday destination of Cape Verde is quickly developing a reputation as the ideal eco-tourism resort, according to a property company.

BuyAssociation believes that increasing numbers of tourists are attracted by the region's strong environmental programmes and that this is likely to boost overseas property investment.

Recent figures show that current visitor numbers to the islands are increasing by around 22 per cent and that Cape Verde will welcome over one million tourists per year by 2015.

The main attraction for holidaymakers is the region's stunning beaches, which are great for those looking for a sporting break. Therefore, the local authorities are keen to ensure that tourism development does not have a negative impact on the environment.

Paul Collins, overseas editor of BuyAssociation, explained: "Cape Verde is quite popular for water-sports, because being in the middle of the Atlantic the windsurfers and kite surfers can do quite well there."

He added that investors should research the areas they are planning to invest in thoroughly, especially as Cape Verde's infrastructure is still being developed, to ensure they capitalise fully on the increase in visitor numbers over the coming years.
