Benefits of Cape Verde investment highlighted

Short flight times, easy access and all-year-round good weather makes Cape Verdi an attractive option for tourists and property investors alike, it has been claimed.

Research conducted by Jet2Let shows that British holidaymakers are increasingly choosing the five-and-a-half hour flight from London to Cape Verde in preference to a 13-and-a-half hour flight to the Maldives.

According to Carley Todd, spokesperson for Global Emerging Market (GEM) Estates, this trend is likely to continue - making it an appealing possibility for prospective property market investors.

"This is a real emerging market and prices are still relatively low and capital growth is expected to be massive, as are rental yields," she commented.

"Cape Verde is an emerging market because it is largely undiscovered... and 'til now most people didn't know it existed. The investment is good because of the expected capital appreciation and rental yields."

Cape Verde's National Statistics Institute reported a 26.4 per cent rise in tourist numbers in 2006.
