UK holiday home owners 'talking the talk'
UK holiday home owners 'talking the talk'British holiday home owners are faring surprisingly well in terms of speaking foreign languages, according to a new study.

A survey carried out by holidaylettings.co.uk found that 49 percent of holiday home owners said they have enough linguistic capabilities to be able to get by in their chosen location.

One fifth of investors already know the language before they choose to buy their holiday home, while 27 percent said they learnt it as they went on.

Both recent holiday home buyers and those who bought second properties around ten years ago feel that it is important to know the language of the area because it is beneficial in dealings with the local service providers.

Ross Elder, managing director of holidaylettings.co.uk, said: "These results, whilst not scientific, show that British holiday home owners and expats are far from ignorant when it comes to the languages and cultures of other countries.

"These are positive statistics that Britons buying abroad should be proud of, but also heed as a useful spot of advice when doing business abroad."
