Spain is "solid" holiday home investment location

Spain's "solid" property market makes it a great place to invest in a holiday home, according to new research.

Director of independent research company Amberlamb Rhiannon Williamson advised potential investors that prices are already high, with a good supply of rental property available.

Ms Williamson was speaking after a survey this week found that half of British second home owners are choosing to invest in property abroad to fund their retirement.

Spain remains the most popular destination among British holiday home investors.

"Because Spain is so easily and cheaply accessible, because it is well known and well loved by Brits and because it has excellent fundamentals from a stable economy to a fantastic climate it does represent a good, solid, evergreen market," Ms Williamson said.

She warned investors to be cautious, however, as the popularity of Spain and its recent property market boom mean that there are already a large number of holiday lettings available.
