Scotland aims to attract European tourists

The next few years could see a boom in the Scottish holiday home market as the country's tourism industry aims to attract a million visitors to its shores.

VisitScotland has launched a marketing campaign directed at potential tourists in mainland Europe.

It hopes to attract visitors from Germany, Sweden, Spain, the Netherlands, France and Italy to 16 main areas in Edinburgh and the Lothians, Precision Marketing reports.

Ben Carter, area director for Edinburgh and Lothians at VisitScotland, told the website: "It is great to have so many attractions from our area featured.

"This is an endorsement of the quality of the tourism we have across Edinburgh and Lothians and I have no doubt we will be welcoming many European visitors as a result of this campaign."
