Britons to look for UK holiday homes this summer
This year will see an increase in the number of Britons opting for a domestic holiday rather than jetting off for sunnier climes, according to a new survey.A study by the Post Office revealed that more UK residents might be searching for holiday homes in Britain, with 13 per cent of respondents saying they would not be leaving the country for their summer break in a bid to help do their bit for the environment.
More than a third of people surveyed think that Britain is a great place to go on holiday, because the country has a lot to offer.
"People are now more than ever making important lifestyle decisions based on their knowledge and understanding of environmental issues. As a result, many travellers are planning to make the most of the UK's holiday spots," said Kevin McAdam, head of travel at the Post Office.
He added: "Our advice is that the travel industry will have to wake up to the fact that Margate could be the new Marbella."
