Austrian ski resorts 'offer more opportunities for investors'
Austrian ski resorts have an all-year-round appeal which makes them particularly attractive for property market investors, it has been claimed.Simon Malster, managing director of Investors in Property, has suggested that whereas French ski resorts appeal mainly to hardcore skiers and have little use in the summer months, Austrian resorts draw a wider range of clientele.
This means that property investors are more likely to secure returns throughout the year, he says.
"Clients are looking to have dual season use throughout the summer and winter," Mr Malster commented.
"In
France some of the purpose built ski resorts are not very nice in the summer, whereas
Austria has a history of hospitality as well as being cosy and pretty. Austria is much more popular for dual season use."
It was also noted by Mr Malster that property in Austria is significantly cheaper than property in France - and it also offers better value for money.
