Success on the cards on Portugal's Silver Coast
Success on the cards on Portugal's Silver Coast
A major new development on Portugal's 'Silver Coast' is taking shape and attracting a lot of interest from property
investors, The Express reveals. The paper reports on the distinctive construction project, described as a daring
experiment in modern architecture, and what it can offer interested buyers.
'Bom Sucesso', once a eucalyptus plantation in the
Obidos lagoon area, is being transformed into a contemporary golf
development. The ultra modern complex will offer investors a range of homes, all built according to "several golden
rules": all buildings are single storey, bar a few exceptions; every house or complex must have eco-friendly flat,
green roofs, covered in wild grasses and flowers; and no fencing is allowed, instead natural boundaries will be
created. The end result in 2010 will be homes that are "barely discernable in the folds of the hills". To add to the
eco-credentials, local limestone is being used for walls and floors.
Bom Sucesso is living up to its name as far as sales are concerned; 84 per cent of the 600 homes in phase one have
already been sold. 30 per cent of the buyers have been British or Irish. Remarking on the investors, Pedro Silva,
vice-president of sales and marketing for the site's developer Acordo, said: "The profile of many buyers is quite
young, 30 to 50, and they want something different from the traditional architecture."
Facilities at the
Silver Coast development will include a "very enticing golf course", tennis, a helipad, a pet hotel and a children's
club. A major equestrian centre is also being built on the complex's doorstep.
