Wayne Rooney is buying a holiday home in the Caribbean. Rooney and his wife Coleen are having the £5m mansion built on an exclusive estate in Barbados.
The couple opted for the island following recommendations from Rio Ferdinand and Gary Linekar, who also have
holiday homes in Barbados, according to The Sun.
The Rooneys chose their new
villa in Barbados from architects' drawings. When completed, the six bedroom house on the 750 acre
Royal Westmoreland Estate on the west coast of the island will overlook a golf course and Mullin's Beach; said to be a favourite with celebrities.
The couple's new home on the west coast of the island will boast a cinema room, swimming pool, Jacuzzi and a gym designed by Wayne. A £35,000 security system wil also be installed before they move in.
The
England and
Manchester United star will be in good company as the estate is a popular location for celebrities with
holiday villas in Barbados. Famous residents include footballer Ashley Cole and wife Cheryl, and boxer Joe Calzaghe.
