George Clooney is reported to have lent David Beckham his villa in Italy. Clooney has loaned Victoria Beckham's husband the property while he waits to hear if LA Galaxy will release him from his contract.

Clooney's £4m waterside villa by Lake Como, Italy, is easily accessible from the footballer's base in Milan, where he hopes to be transferred to. Beckham is said to be using Clooney's villa in Italy to unwind while LA Galaxy make a decision.

"George has really taken David under his wing since the transfer trouble started," a source told Hello! magazine. "At the house, David is able to get away from everything, relax and switch off in private."

Beckham and Clooney were introduced to each other by Giorgio Armani at the Met Ball in New York last year and are said to have become good friends. "Their friendship has gone to the next level since David started using George's home," the source added.

LA Galaxy has yet to agree to sell Beckham to AC Milan and the footballer is due back in Los Angeles on March 9, according to The Daily Mail. Beckham has spent two months on loand at the Milan club and is said to have heart set on remaining in Italy.
